Lunar
Lunar is an Edinburgh-based service supporting cisgender (cis) and transgender (trans) women selling or exchanging sex in, or based in, Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders.
Lunar offers trauma-informed, non-judgemental, one-to-one support to women involved in selling or exchanging sex.
Women are not required or expected to stop selling sex to engage with Lunar, but our team can support women who want to explore new employment opportunities or interests.
In addition to one-to-one emotional support and signposting, our specialised team can help women with safety planning to ensure they are as safe as possible when working. If you are selling sex or work with women who sell sex, please review these safety tips.
Who we can help
Women who are working in (or working from) Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders and are engaged in any type of sex selling can work with the Lunar team.
Lunar works with cis and trans women who have previously sold sex, are currently selling sex or are considering starting sex selling.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Street-based selling
- Escorting
- Stripping
- Camming
- Creating online content
- Phone sex/sexting
If you are outwith the Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders area, we may be able to signpost or refer you into an appropriate service through our partnership with the national Encompass Network.
The support we provide
Our all-female team of Women’s Workers meets women wherever they are with non-judgemental, trauma-informed emotional support. We also make referrals where needed, to advocate and support women to access services for issues such as:
- Substance use
- Domestic abuse
- Healthcare
- Mental health
- Benefits
- Housing
Sacro workers currently conduct outreach support at WISHES (Women Inclusive Sexual Health Extended Service), mainstream sexual health clinics and provide a Thursday evening drop-in for street-based women where they can get a hot drink, a care package and speak with a highly skilled worker who understands the unique challenges faced by women selling or exchanging sex.

- Women’s Inclusive Sexual Health Extended Service (WISHES), provides sexual health services, practical and emotional support.
- WISHES Clinic (Spittal Street): Thursdays 2pm-4:30pm then 5pm-7pm
- WISHES at Chalmers: Wednesday afternoons by appointment only.
- Street Outreach, Leith Links: Thursdays 9pm-10:30pm.
